Haute 100 LA Update: Jim Gianopulos Dedicates New Fox Building to Lionel Newman

Jim Gianopulos was on hand to celebrate the debut of a new structure on the Fox lot dedicated to the late television and film composer Lionel Newman.

The 20th Century Fox Film CEO-chairman made a few opening remarks at Thursday’s ceremony, referring to the Newman family as the “Kennedys of songwriting.”

Big names at the event included Steven Spielberg and longtime artistic collaborator John Williams, as well as Newman’s nephew Randy Newman. 

Lionel Newman’s numerous credits included Road House (1948), There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954), River of No Return (1954), Love Me Tender (1956), North to Alaska (1960) and Hello, Dolly! (1970), which earned him an Oscar.
