Quirky New Gucci Men’s Campaign Features Harry Styles In An English Fish & Chip Shop
For its latest men’s ad campaign, Gucci ventured off to a local fish ‘n’ chip shop—or “chippy” to English locals—in North London. The quirky, offbeat shoot featured one of the UK’s most talented and famous exports, Harry Styles, the now-solo singer/musician, formerly one-fifth of the British pop boy band sensation, “One Direction.”
Styles—who has become a style icon himself—is the young English hero of the images, wearing tailored Gucci suits with waistcoats—one is made from wool mohair with white, red and black mini pied de pool with a green checked blanket, and the other is an ink-grey bee checked suit. He also wears a macro gingham sharkskin dressing gown as a coat, as well as a dark wool mohair jacket with an embroidered collar, and a Major League Baseball New York Yankees-patched, white-oatmeal, bird’s eye wool suit—a real head-turner. The contemporary styling perfectly combines more formal cuts with casual and youthful touches—a combination that Gucci has mastered.
The other heroes in the shoot are the pet chicken and dog, prominently featured in the “chippy” with Styles. Reflecting a common theme and setting in British film, the narrative of the images portrays a young Englishman ordering his food from the fish and chip shop counter and sharing with his animals. The campaign video, below, is so charmingly British, playing the song “Michelle,” written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, of British Beatles royalty.
