We’re only five days into 2018 and if you’re already feeling overwhelmed by the promises you made to better yourself in the new year, you’re not alone. To keep us on track, I’ve reached out to four of my favorite females in the local fitness community. I asked them to share their resolutions and how they plan to keep them, plus tips on eating healthy and staying motivated.

First up, Melissa Boyd, the badass owner of Salt, a boutique fitness studio on Divisadero Street. Boyd teaches a multitude of classes that she developed herself. From Barre Fight (a mixture of cardio kick-boxing and barre) to Sandstorm (an intense conditioning challenge), everything at Salt is a fun, full body workout. Here’s how Boyd plans to stay on point for the next 12 months.

New Year’s Resolution: Schedule one self care activity a week.

How you plan to keep it: Blocking off my time and pre-booking services!

Your go-to nutritious snack: I’m a huge fan of Siren Snacks, female owned SF business that makes amazing protein snack packs! Snickerdoodle is the best! Collagen coffee is my runner up!

Favorite salad: Souvla’s chicken salad and Trick Dog‘s kale salad!

Best healthy restaurant in SF: I love Jane on Fillmore for a quick bite and live off of Urban Remedy’s grab and go items!

Fitness motto: Be inspired by failure, knowing what you are unable to do gives you an instant challenge and goal you can aspire too. Being good at everything is boring—and impossible!

What’s your best advice for living a healthy lifestyle in San Francisco? Your workout should work for you. Chose something near your home or work and immerse yourself in the community. A workout with friends is so much more rewarding!
