Bill Murray and Gloria Estefan Headline Festival Napa Valley
Festival Napa Valley, wine country’s 10-day music, dance, and theater extravaganza, has announced its lineup for this summer’s event. Now in its 12th year, Festival Napa Valley will take place July 14-23, 2017 at 30 different locations throughout the valley. Lovers of the arts will have nearly 60 events to choose from. Here is a sampling of what will go down: The opening night gala at Meadowood Napa Valley features opera stars Danielle de Niese and Lucas Meachem along with a dinner paired with some of the area’s best wines. Far Niente Winery is throwing a Cuban party where Joshua Bell will lead the Havana Chamber Orchestra and pianist Aldo López-Gavilán will perform a lively show. Gloria Estefan will headline another gala at Hall St. Helena that benefits the Napa County public school arts educational programs. Actor Bill Murray will join cellist Jan Vogler for the U.S. premiere of New Worlds, a thrilling encounter of great music and literature at the Lincoln Theater. The San Francscio Ballet, Festival Orchestra Napa, Lester Lynch, and Angel Blue will also perform.
Over 100 wineries are participating and will serve as hosts to the festival’s many happenings. Think vintner luncheons, intimate concerts, and elaborate dinners. Winery venues include Alpha Omega, B Cellars, Darioush, Quintessa, Swanson Family Estate, and Trefethen Family Vineyards. For the third year in a row, there are a 5K and 10K sun runs that festival goers are invited to participate in. The course starts and ends at the Lincoln Theater and passes along the picturesque Vine Trail. Taste of Napa is the walk around Saturday afternoon event that involves an expansive selection of hors d’oeuvres and pours from the region’s most coveted wineries, many of which are not open to the public.
