This weekend, restaurants all around town are offering carbo filled dishes to prepare for the Boston Marathon. Even Sam Adams is rolling out its celebratory beer once again this year, the 26.2 Brew, brewed with kosher salt and coriander in honor of Marathon Monday and in celebration of founder Jim Koch’s first release of Samuel Adams Boston Lager on this day back in 1985. To get you runner ready, here is a look at five haute spots to indulge in your favorite carbs.

 

1 Miel Brasserie Provencale

Is there really anything better than indulging in comfort fare at a romantic waterfront restaurant? Over at the Intercontinental Boston Hotel, Miel Brasserie Provencale offers French inspired fare where you can start the carbo-loading process with a sampling of crostini like the goat cheese, caramelized onion and chives before moving onto heartier fare like the decadently rich truffle risotto made with carnaroli rice, black and white truffles, shallots, white wine and Parmigiano Reggiano.

2 Scollay Square

In Beacon Hill, Scollay Square will be doling out dish after dish of creamy lobster mac filled with fresh lobster meat and cheesy macaroni topped with toasted garlic crumbs. Give your body some quick energy the night before the Marathon with an order of lobster risotto or fuel up with the torched ahi tuna and tempura scallop rice bowl to prepare for the big run on Patriots’ Day.

Next Sunday, SRV will be offering a specialty menu at their South End location dedicated to marathon runners. At SRV (“Serene Republic of Venice”), chefs Michael Lombardi and Kevin O'Donnell will be serving up Venetian-style rustic dishes of homemade pasta, proteins and fish. You can also order off the traditional Italian menu that features carb laden dishes like lamb neck gnocchi, black truffle or squid ink risotto and a spicy spaghetti dish tossed with shrimp and garlic.

Nothing says carbo loading with a name quite like Pasta Beach. The waterfront location does pizza well and pasta even better. Seafood loving runners can indulge in linguine Gamberi e Capesante, a delicious combination of shrimp, sea scallops and chopped tomatoes with garlic, black pepper and white wine in a homemade pistachio pesto sauce.
