The 88th Academy Awards is slated to take place on Sunday, Feb 28th. You know what that means? It’s time to gather your friends and family to host another haute fête. An Oscars viewing party is the perfect opportunity to collectively fawn over the glamorous looks on the red carpet and cheer on your favorite celebs as they collect the most coveted award in Tinseltown. In addition, with actor and comedian Chris Rock as a host, viewers will surely be in for a treat.

Haute Living spoke with some of the members of The Chosen Few, who has provided great tips to make the guests (and the host) happy. These event experts have weighed in to make your load a little lighter. With experiences organizing and executing events for Hollywood’s most elite including Gucci, Mercedes Benz, and Rihanna, The Chosen Few know how to design all aspects of the perfect party that even a novice can handle.

1 Spruce Up Store Bought Items

Anthony Taccetta, event designer who’s executed a number of high profile events including Penn and Teller’s Broadway opening night party, the Polpo Gelato Pop Up Shop in the East Village, recommends sprucing up store bought items to customize your food and drink stations. Popcorn in cute square shaped vases becomes The Golden Popcorn Bar. Gold spray-painted mason jars upgrades a regular cocktail to an Instagram-worthy drink. These items can be picked up at any craft store and sometimes you even have mason jars at home that can be reused.

2 Stroll Through Hollywood’s Walk of Fame

Event producer, Frank Alexander proposes a stroll through Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Celebs can be printed out and placed on coasters and guests can choose their favorite star. As they walk, have a Joan Rivers impersonator critique guests’ outfits.

3 Create Your Own Paparazzi

Photographer, Michael Jurick suggests creating your own paparazzi and giving out awards for the best outfits and selfies. You can also incorporate printed posters of all the Best Picture and Best Actor nominees for a cute little set up where guests can take pictures next to their favorites.

4 Have a Cheeky Oscar Raffle Game for Guests

Entertaining dynamic duo experts Pat & Glenn from Pat Glenn Productions who happen to go all out for their own Oscar parties keeps the party going by creating a cheeky Oscar raffle game for guests that make the correct pick for certain categories. Another fun comical option suggests having hand held faces of actors and actresses made that are contenders in categories and guests make believe they are that individual throughout the night. Prediction: There will be plenty of Leos.

5 A Signature Punch Is Necessary

For food and drinks, Taccetta suggests that you create a signature punch. For the Oscars I suggest a pomegranate champagne punch, as it's delicious and you can create a beautiful presentation using some simple gold sugar to rim the glasses. For food, keep it simple with lite bites that can be set out for people to munch on throughout the evening. A crudité platter, shrimp cocktail, mini bruschetta bowls and mini shish kabobs are very easy and can be plated prior to the red carpet arrivals.
