Congratulations to guard Stephen Curry, owner Joe Lacob and the rest of the Golden State Warriors for bringing their franchise its first NBA championship in 40 years! The hautest team in the league all season long hustled its way to a 105-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6 of The Finals on June 16 to dash LeBron James’ hopes of bringing his hometown team its first NBA title ever. A packed house at Oracle Arena in Oakland watched the thrilling game, played in Cleveland. Get ready for the parade on Friday!

Andre Igoudala, featured in our tech issue last year, was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, after posting 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in last night’s win. He’s the the first player to win the honor without starting every game. Before this season, Iguodala had started 758 consecutive games. This season, he came off the bench until Game 4 of the Finals, when he was substituted into the starting lineup for center Andrew Bogut. Voila! The Warriors then won each of their final three games of the series. In last night’s game, Curry, the league’s season MVP, added 25 points, eight assists and six rebounds while  Draymond Green recorded a triple-double.

The Warriors and the city of Oakland will host a parade and rally at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center, to honor the champs on Friday, June 19 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade will begin on Broadway at 11th Street, turning right on Grand Avenue, and right on Harrison to Lakeside Drive, ending on Oak and proceeding to the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center for the rally.

Fans can begin to line up for the Rally as early as 5:00 a.m. at Lakeshore and 12th Street.

BART will run extra trains through Oakland all day and will modify routes to accommodate parade and rally attendants.

Details about taking AC Transit to the parade festivities, including information about bus detours in downtown Oakland, are available online at www.actransit.org.
