Miami Beach Celebrates 100 Years with Wyclef Jean, Flo Rida, and Gloria Estefan
Miami Beach put on a great party for their 100th birthday as only they could. It was a five-night celebration with music, installations and fashion shows by FUNKSHION, showing labels like Style Mafia, Liliana Montoya, Original Penguin by Perry Ellis, and Cubavera showcasing their latest designs on the catwalk in the Centennial Venue.
The Menin Hospitality Lounge and The Peroni Music Lounge catered to guests the entire five-nights providing complimentary beverages and food by chefs Herb Wilson and Red Ginger. The Peroni Music Lounge hosted a number of DJ’s, such as DJ Orazio Rispo to keep the party pumping at all times.
Celebrity stylist, Calyann Barnett put on a funky fashion show at The Phoenix House Miami Costume Concierge and Showroom presented. Attendees got their party on with five open-air photo booth sets designed and styled by Barnett and presented by Deleon Tequila. Special photo booth presenter was local Miami personality, Miami personality, Yes Julz was the special photo booth presenter. Her “royalty” themed booth allowed guests to strike a pose on a throne with crowns and fur capes. Of course, Yes Julz made sure photos were automatically uploaded to Instagram.
One of the highlights of FUNKSHION was Art Conductor: Reset presented by SEVENFRIDAY, which featured local Miami artists, Magnus Sodamin and Aileen Quintana who put on a multi-sensory installation. Graphographics exhibited free standing sculptures right in the center of FUNKSHION’s Fashion Tent.
The fashionable week finished off with Style Mafia’s fashion show where models flaunted the brand’s latest spring and summer trends. Models were decked out in jewelry designs by Jovana Djuric who just launched her Signature Horus 2015 Collection inspired by refined forms in nature.
Dior was also part of the FUNKSHION, revealing their latest scent and commercial for the Miss Dior campaign starring Natalie Portman
Wyclef Jean, Flo Rida, and Gloria Estefan ended Miami’s centennial celebration on Thursday night with performances at Hard Rock’s Rising Miami Beach Global Music Festival.
