You compost, bicycle to work, turn off lights when you leave the room and take short showers. But are you dressing in fabulous eco-friendly fashions? Just in time for Global Green USA’s 10th annual Gorgeous & Green Gala, taking place Friday, Oct. 10 at the LEED-certified Bently Reserve in San Francisco, the always stylish Lily Achatz shares with Haute Living her list of five haute green fashion designers to consider.
Achatz, a San Francisco resident, serves as the Global Green fashion show curator, co-producer and stylist. You’ll see eco-conscious creations from her carefully-curated list of green fashion designers below on the runway during the fashion show portion of the glamorous event. They’ll also give you ideas on what to wear if you’re planning to be a part of the star-studded evening.
Oliver Tolentino
Oliver Tolentino is no stranger to the Green Carpet. He specializes in eco fabrics and is known for his beautiful Pina fabric that is made from pineapple leaves. He has dressed Global Green Celebrity Ambassador Emmy Rossum and our own San Francisco chair Nadine Weil. Other fans include Kelly Preston, Jessica Alba, Carrie Underwood, Paula Patton and many more.
Azada
Azada Founder and Designer Tara Haggiag reclaims unique and exotic fabrics from vintage saris for some of her couture dresses. Her bohemian flair has attracted fashion mavens, including Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz and Rosanna Arquette.
Daniel Silverstein
Daniel Silverstein launched his sustainable collection after graduating from NYC’s prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (my alma mater). His cutting edge style caught the eye of Hollywood and Daniel was chosen to participate on Season 2 of NBC’s “Fashion Star.” He has dressed eco-fashion icon Amber Valletta.
eBay Store Studio Blu
Studio Blu on eBay carries the highest end designer dresses for the serious shoppers. We especially like recycled runway looks since they are the most sustainable.
Simon+Krull Handbags
Simon+Krull uses eco-conscious materials when making their handbags. Los Angeles-based designer Kendra Krull offers luxury day and evening handbags.
