The Animal Foundation’s 11th Annual Best in Show Raises $215,000, Finds Forever Homes for 50-Plus Dogs
Local celebrities, philanthropists and animal lovers gathered at the Orleans Arena for The Animal Foundation’s 11th Annual “Best In Show,” finding forever homes for more than 50 canine contestants and raising more than $215,000 to help animals in need.
Host Jeff Civillico, who headlines at The Quad, opened the AKC-style dog show, entertaining spectators with his astounding balancing acts and family friendly comedy. Civillico was joined by local celebrities and news personalities who presented a variety of categories featuring incredible shelter dogs. Presenters included KLAS’ Denise Valdez, KTNV’s Beth Fisher, KVVU’s John Huck, KSNV’s Gerard Ramalho, KXNT’s Dayna Roselli, and Devan May, who plays Tommy Devito in the Las Vegas production of Jersey Boys. The female presenters were escorted onstage by two dreamy men from Chippendales. Also in attendance was Mayor Carolyn Goodman.
Winners from each category were determined by audience applause and the coveted title of “Best In Show” went to Jackson, a black and white cutie with dazzling blue eyes.
The show ended with a raffle, where more than 50 dogs were matched with loving new owners. Raffle winners were required to complete The Animal Foundation’s standard adoption process, in which they are evaluated for suitability by adoption counselors.
In addition to the Best In Show contestants who found a family to call their own, The Animal Foundation found forever homes for 188 animals as part of the Best In Show Adoption Weekend, which offered 50 percent off adoption fees for any pet waiting for a forever home for 11 days or long.
