Just because it’s Monday doesn’t mean it’s too early to start making plans for next weekend.  Spring is already in full swing, and there’s no better place to relax and rejuvenate than in the heart of Wine Country.  St. Helena is a haute getaway destination that is the perfect place for visitors to luxuriate and unwind. Here’s a look at what’s haute in St. Helena.

Sit back, relax, and take a load off. Wydown Hotel is a quaint and beautiful boutique hotel located in the heart of St. Helena on Main Street, just the right pace (and place) for visitors and locals alike. This stylish, contemporary, 12-room property showcases the renowned culinary reputation of Wine Country and the destination’s relaxing energy with two new overnight packages this spring.

The Tricks of the Trade package invites guests to learn how to blend their own wine and cook like a professional chef; and Springtime Rejuvenation offers the perfect opportunity to unwind and refresh with a Swedish massage and a poolside lunch. This package is the ultimate hands-on winemaking experience, offering guests the opportunity to learn the art of wine blending from the pros at The  Blending Room at Raymond Vineyards.

Guests are given red wine from renowned Napa appellations to create their own vintage, which they then take home in a custom-labeled bottle. How cool is that?  Those who fall in love with their creation are welcome to order a case of their personally-crafted wine to share with friends and family. Also included in the package is a lesson at the Napa Valley Cooking School where guests can take single-subject classes such as “Rib Mania”; sessions focused on culinary hot spots such as Italy, France and Thailand; and dessert and pastry classes such as “Puff The Magic Pastry” and “Operation Chocolate,” all led by professional chef-instructors. This package begins at $605 for two nights, double occupancy.

After a long day, you’ll be ready for a cocktail (or two) and a hearty meal at La Condesa. This vibrant, farm-to-table restaurant and bar in the heart of Napa Valley – with menus inspired by the soulful cuisine of Central Mexico, revitalized menus, live music and weekly trivia.
Executive Chef Chris Mortenson, a Northern California native who grew up in Lodi,  honed his skills as executive chef at Border Grill in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and also worked alongside James Beard Award-nominated Chef Rene Ortiz at the original location of La Condesa in Austin. He has a true passion for Mexican cooking and is excited to infuse a local, sustainable approach.

We recommend choosing a seat in the front of the restaurant, where popular local artists, such as Alt-Country musician Sean Garvey and Spanish Flamenco guitarist Chris Vorland, take to the stage on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m.  La Condesa is also the place to be on Tuesday nights, for “Tacos and Trivia Tuesdays.”
