Million Dollar Makeover: Sun Dial Restaurant and Lounge

News | August 21, 2013

Atlanta’s iconic restaurant with a 360 rotation view of Atlanta reopened its doors this week to reveal its million dollar makeover.

Located at the top of the Westin-Peachtree Plaza in downtown Atlanta, the Sundial Restaurant Bar & View has a completely modern and fresh look with stunning woodwork and eye-catching lighting throughout the space, thanks to Blackdog Studio and designer Carolyn Auger.

The space is not the only thing that got some TLC, however. Chef Jason Starnes worked his magic on the menu, which now features seasonal dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.  Some menu highlights include compressed watermelon salad to start and a mustard rubbed rack of lamb. The bar menu was not forgotten either.  Expect to find selections such as Georgia-made beers including Jailhouse Brewing Company’s Break Out Stout, as well as local liquors like Southern Vodka and Dawsonville Moonshine.

Originally designed by renowned Atlanta architect John Portman, the Sun Dial, perched 723 feet in the air, opened in the Westin in 1976. The beautiful skyline view has continued to lure diners over the years,  but after this million dollar makeover, bar spots will not be easy to come by.

With full-rotating views of Atlanta, a new menu and a hip makeover, we are flying high at Sundial Restaurant and Lounge.
