Where to be on New Year’s Eve in Dubai

As most other events are in Dubai, New Year’s is always an extravagant affair. From fireworks to special galas, private dinners and more, the city parties the New Year in with lots of vibrant energy and soirees galore.

If you’re looking for fireworks and a party on the beach, head to Atlantis. The hotel returns once again this year with its Royal Gala Dinner under the stars as well as other festive celebrations at the hotel’s restaurants in addition to its famous fireworks at midnight. The Palm resort will also play host to the popular Sandance festival with this year’s headline acts inclding Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Roger Sanchez and Paul Van Dyk who will have you dancing your way into the early hours of 2013.

Fireworks can also be witnessed downtown Dubai surrounding the Burj Khalifa where thousands of visitors are expected to congregate to witness one of the best displays of fireworks the city has ever seen. The best viewing areas will be at Burj Park, Burj Plaza, Emaar Boulevard and The Dubai Mall waterfront.

For those who want to get their groove on, venture out to Okku’s Fire & Ice Party where resident DJ Marshall will play his catchy beats and guests can relish in Okku’s award-wining Japanese fare. Or head to Zuma, another one of Dubai’s best-loved spots for Japanese cusine. On 31 December,  the restaurant will serve its a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Early dinners for families will start at 7:30pm  available until 21:30pm followed by a second sitting at 10pm for those who want to see in 2013. Get your groove on after your meal with DJ Adrien Callier’s gripping tunes on the dance floor.
