The second iteration of YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION campaign was launched last week by eBay and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The campaign was designed to raise awareness against counterfeit goods and celebrate original design. The spring tote collection includes 76 customized designs and four unique totes styles, including one by Kate Spade.
Designer handbags are sold every 16 seconds on eBay and the company continues to be committed to providing a safe and secure sales experience for customers. In an effort to combat counterfeit designer items, eBay continually introduces new proactive measures to combat the global trade in counterfeits. Along with the Council for Fashion Designers of American, eBay has launched the YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION campaign to create awareness about the growing problem in the fashion world.
President and Chief Creative Officer of Kate Spade New York, Deborah Lloyd, said, “The YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION campaign is a great effort, allowing all of us to come together and show the public our commitment to original design and combating counterfeits. As much awareness we can raise around the dangers of counterfeits and the harm they cause, the better.”
The YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION spring tote collection includes 76 customized designs and four unique totes styles for sale at a fixed price. Customers can purchase the items exclusively on eBay at fashionvault.ebay.com. All proceeds benefit the CFDA Foundation. There four standard limited-edition tote styles – bucket, duffle, gear and satchel. Designer totes retail for $200 and standard totes go for $45.
CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said, “Our first YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION campaign with eBay last summer was hugely successful, and we continue to collaborate on this bold initiative to raise awareness and fight fakes. Authentic and original design is so critical to the industry’s livelihood and we’re excited to have so many more designers on board this year, proving how supportive the entire fashion industry is of this issue and campaign.”
