Bugatti Celebrates 110 Years With Limited-Edition Bugatti Baby
Bugatti introduces the smallest member of the family; the Baby II a contemporary tribute to Ettore’s masterpiece. The Baby II will be a strictly limited run, just like the original, only 500 cars will be built. The reborn edition is a three-quarters-size replica of the Bugatti Type 35, so it can be driven by both adults and children.
The Baby II has a rear-wheel-drive battery-powered electric powertrain and unlike its predecessor, the new model features a removable lithium-ion battery pack and regenerative braking. There will be two selectable power modes for drivers of different statures. The first is a child mode with a top speed of 12 mph and an adult mode that tops out at 27mph. In addition, the speed key upgrade is great for enthusiasts who crave even more pace. The upgrade allows a power of up to 10kW and disengages the speed limiter, making it a little faster than the two other options.
On the inside, the cockpit features Bugatti’s signature turned aluminum dashboard, a leather seat, a scale recreation of the Type 35’s distinctive four-spoke steering wheel as well as custom Bugatti instruments. The exterior is painted in the traditional French racing blue, although you will be able to order the car in a range of alternative colors. The car comes with signature eight-spoke aluminum alloy wheels and house modern brakes are on each wheel to keep your little one safe, as does the powerful headlights.
In true Bugatti style, the Baby II comes complete with the solid silver ‘Macaron’ badge on the nose of the car. Cars ordered in 2019 will come with a badge to commemorate Bugatti’s 110th anniversary and each car will include a limited-edition numbered plaque.
Production is scheduled to start later this fall and will start at $33,651USD.
