Dr. Paul McAndrews

Dr. Paul J. McAndrews is a board-certified dermatologist and hair restoration surgeon with over 29 years of experience, serving patients in Pasadena, Beverly Hills, and across the greater Los Angeles area. He offers both Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), tailoring each treatment plan to a patient's goals, hair type, and pattern of loss.

Dr. McAndrews is one of only two physicians globally to have served as President of both the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (Past-President, 2020-2021) and the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (Past-President, 2012). He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and the American Board of Dermatology, and has served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Keck USC School of Medicine since 1997, teaching residents the science and art of natural-looking hair transplantation.

His training includes formal residency at USC/LAC Medical Center, where he was named Chief Resident for the Department of Dermatology. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society for the top 15 percent of medical students in the United States, and has been an Expert Reviewer for the California Medical Board.

The McAndrews Method. Dr. McAndrews performs only one FUE or FUT hair transplant per day, overseeing every step of the procedure himself and never delegating to a medical technician. His practice uses a Stereoscopic Microscope during graft preparation, a step he considers vitally important for maximizing graft survival and natural appearance in both FUT and FUE procedures.

He treats hair loss across all stages and works with patients of every ethnicity, hair texture, hair color, and gender, including transgender hair transplant procedures. He also performs eyebrow transplantation, placing follicles at flat angles to achieve natural, symmetrical results. Dr. McAndrews addresses androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, scarring alopecia, traction alopecia, and post-surgical or trauma-related hair loss.

His honors include the Castle Connolly Top Doctors Award every year since 2008, Top Doctor recognition from Los Angeles Magazine and Pasadena Magazine, and the Outstanding Teacher Award in Surgical Dermatology from the USC School of Medicine in 2010.
