Walmart customers stand to receive cash compensation following a $45 million lawsuit settlement. Allegations from October 2022 suggested overcharging on certain sold-by-weight items and bagged fruits compared to advertised prices.
The lawsuit targeted practices involving meat, poultry, pork, seafood, and organic citrus fruits sold nationwide.
While Walmart refutes the claims, it opted for a substantial settlement to resolve the matter. Eligible customers who made purchases between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024, at Walmart stores in the United States or Puerto Rico may qualify for compensation.
Payment amounts vary based on factors like proof of purchase, with potential sums ranging from $10 to $500.
The deadline for claims submission is June 5.
