Photo Credit: ShutterstockLamar Odom, who is equally as famous for being a former NBA player as he is for being Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband, has allegedly stopped paying child support for his two children with ex-girlfriend Liza Morales. Morales filed a lawsuit against her co-parent on Thursday, May 13 because Odom is supposed to cough up $6,000 per month, in addition to college tuition and premiums on $9 million worth of life insurance policies, and has failed to do so.
Supposedly the former LA Laker has not paid support since June of 2020, but the tipping point for Ms. Morales was when she began facing eviction from her Manhattan apartment. She claims that the lack of financial support has put herself and her children in a compromising situation and left her unable to pay her $5,125 per month rent. She is suing for nearly $200,000 in “immediate relief” to cover her unpaid rent plus interest. Furthermore, the Basketball Wives star says that due to her ex’s withholding of funds, their son is unable to attend a 4-year college and has resorted to community college.
A representative for Odom claims that he has tried to resolve the issue with his former High School sweetheart many times both in private and in public. Most recently in February, Odom appeared on Wendy Williams and denied that he has stopped paying child support, but also asserted that Morales “makes enough money” as a fashion designer and by starring on Basketball Wives.
The pair have a long history together and are no strangers to hardships. They met in high school, have had 3 children together, and faced the passing of their youngest child, Jayden, together when he was just 6 months old. Morales has also previously discussed how her ex’s battle with addiction has intensified her struggles with depression and anxiety, and how she lost herself trying to co-parent with an addict. A representative for Odom said on the issue, “During the past year and a half Odom knew he had to step away from work to get his mental health and addiction in order. Odom loves his children and wants them to see their father win a difficult battle.”
