Microneedling with Skinpen is a treatment designed to intentionally create microchannels in the skin to stimulate natural repair processes including collagen and elastin production by the skin itself. There are three distinct phases to the treatment, inflammation, proliferation and remodelling.
The first phase is the inflammation phase where the white blood cells are recruited and prepare the skin for repair. The second phase is the proliferation phase when new skin cells, and collagen and elastin fibers begin to form. The third phase is the remodelling phase where the skins natural rejuvenation processes continue.
This treatment is good for any age group, any skin type, any season (including summer) with little to know downtime. It is also a great treatment for any patient who is not suitable for intense chemical/thermal based treatments. Numbing cream is used before the treatment to reduce any treatment sensitivity.
Patients who are not suitable for microneedling include with any active infection, sores, skin cancer, allergy to stainless steel or local anesthetic, bleeding disorder, pregnant or nursing or taking any drugs containing isotretinoin (such as Accutane).
