The Inspiration Behind The Waltzman Institute
Early in my plastic surgery training, I knew I wanted to open my own practice. I find the business aspect enjoyable, and I appreciate being my own boss. My formal business education, acquired in both college and graduate school, had a major impact on my decision. I am a surgeon, and doing surgery is obviously my first love, but I also enjoy marketing, accounting, organizational behavior, and business strategy.
The Waltzman Institue Mission
My mission has not really changed, but rather I would say it has evolved. When I opened my first office in 2015 my mission was to elevate the level of the “plastic surgery experience” in my market. I opened a relatively small, but very nice office where patients received a boutique-like experience with highly personalized care. Fast forward eight years and I quickly outgrew that office. In January of 2023, I opened The Waltzman Institute. My mission has now evolved to be a luxury world-class center of Plastic Surgery and Medical Aesthetics for patients in Southern California. We embody this mission by setting the highest standards of individualized patient care and customer service, professionalism, and compassion.
Describe the Vibe
Sophisticated, approachable, and modern. From the moment you walk in the front door and into the Lounge, you are greeted with a flood of natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows, natural materials, and clean modern design that is unlike anything else I have personally experienced in a medical setting. Music plays in the background and you are offered a drink from our beverage station. Although this is all meant to be impressive, it is not done in an ostentatious or stuffy way. The experience continues as our professional staff welcomes you and takes you back for your appointment. The rest of your visit is no different. Calming color palettes and comfortable furniture are found throughout the office. While the physical office is quite large, the experience is still very personalized and comfortable.
How The Waltzman Insitute Name Was Born
I decided to change the name of my practice from Waltzman Plastic Surgery to The Waltzman Institute when I moved to my new office in January of 2023. This was mainly due to the fact that the services my new office provides are much broader and more comprehensive than my old office. Previously, I had two exam rooms and a minor procedure room. Now I have a true center that includes my exam room, a full luxury Med-Spa, and a state-of-the-art accredited outpatient surgery center. It really is a world-class center for plastic surgery and medical aesthetics. The name, The Waltzman Institute, better encompasses the full breadth of what we are and what we do.

One of the most underrated services in my practice is BBL (broadband light). BBL is literally the fountain of youth for skin anti-aging. It is not really a laser, but rather a whole bunch of different wavelengths of light that are very quickly flashed on the skin. It makes skin appear younger, clearer, and brighter. It treats brown spots, red spots, chronic sun damage, small vessels, pore size, acne, and overall skin “clarity”. You can use BBL on almost any area of the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs. To maintain results patients get their “photofacial” every 3-4 months. It’s quick and painless with no downtime.
The Future of the Field
I think the future of the field of plastic surgery will be very exciting. I think technology will be the main thing that allows us to provide even better results for our patients. Everyone wants better results with less downtime. The most important part is that we don’t sacrifice patient safety along the way. Anti-aging technology for facial aesthetics is obviously the holy grail. For breast surgery, I think there will be ways to potentially minimize or eliminate capsular contracture.

The newest procedure I am excited to offer is called MyEllevate. This is a minimally invasive neck contouring procedure designed to help support and treat the neck muscles and glands. The procedure is usually combined with neck liposuction and a skin tightening procedure called Renuvion. This procedure can be performed awake or with general anesthesia.
