It's September, the perfect time to prioritize wellness, rejuvenation, and transformation after the busy summer months. As the weather cools down there is less attention to the body and more focus on the face. This time of the year, I see many patients for consultations to improve the area around the eyes. Excess, drooping skin and persistent puffiness around the eyes can often be deceptive, making you appear older and more tired than you feel.
At Maia Plastic Surgery, we offer non-surgical and surgical options to brighten and refresh your eyes this fall. The best part? All these procedures can be seamlessly combined, offering you a comprehensive approach to rejuvenation that will not only turn back the clock but also leave you looking and feeling your absolute best.

Upper and lower blepharoplasty can be meticulously tailored to address the patient's specific aesthetic preferences and distinctive features. The art of blepharoplasty entails a profound understanding of eye aesthetics, a comprehensive grasp of eyelid anatomy and function, and a high level of surgical expertise. It involves delicately removing, repositioning, or tightening eyelid fat, skin, and muscle. In essence, it's a fusion of science and artistry. It's this level of personalized attention and surgical finesse that I offer at Maia Plastic Surgery that ensures each patient's eyes reflect their unique beauty and character after the procedure.
The Upper Eyelid Lift
The upper eyelids play a crucial role in framing your eyes, and with age, they can start to droop, creating a tired and aged appearance. Removing excess skin and addressing fatty deposits can restore youthful contours to your upper eyelids, making your eyes appear more alert and refreshed. This procedure can be done in-office, under local anesthesia, and takes 30 minutes. There are a number of before and after pictures on my website that show how impactful this procedure can be on someone’s appearance.

Under-eye bags can make you look fatigued even when you're well-rested. Aging, smoking, sun exposure, and other factors can cause the skin underneath the eyes to noticeably wrinkle and look thin or “crepey.” A lower blepharoplasty (under-eye bag removal surgery) offers a solution. A lower blepharoplasty can be performed in one of two ways: Either fat removal alone or fat and skin removal. This transformative procedure targets puffiness and excess skin beneath the eyes, creating a smoother and more youthful lower eye contour.
Botox: The “Elixir of Youth”

Fall is the season of transformation, and Botox can be your secret weapon for turning back the clock. Those stubborn crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead lines can be gently smoothed away. Botox, with its precision and reliability, can help you achieve a refreshed and youthful appearance around your eyes. It works by relaxing the muscles responsible for wrinkles, leaving you with smoother skin and a newfound confidence. With holidays right around the corner, this is the perfect time to get Botox since results last three to four months.

One of the most common Botox treatments I perform in my clinic is the Botox “Brow Lift”. This raises the position of your eyebrows, which is usually enough to make hooded eyes look less heavy and tired.
CO2 Laser
The CO2 laser is one of the most popular lasers in my clinic. I will often combine eyelid surgery procedures with CO2 laser around the eyes to optimize their results. The reason why the fractional CO2 laser technology is so loved is that no other laser can tighten the skin around the eyes quite like CO2.
This advanced technology addresses fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and the sun damage that summer may have left behind. By stimulating collagen production and effectively resurfacing the skin, the CO2 laser can reveal a luminous, radiant complexion and tighter skin around the eyes.
UPNEEQ Eye Drops: Instantly Lifts Drooping Eyes
Sometimes, the key to refreshed eyes lies in the blink of an eye. UPNEEQ is the only FDA-approved prescription eyedrop used to treat acquired ptosis in adults which appears as drooping, tired eyelids. It works by stimulating an involuntary muscle in your eyelids to lift them and open your eyes, helping you look more awake and energized. Using Upneeq eye drops is as simple as placing a single drop of the solution in your eye once per day. I will often recommend these drops to my patients who are looking for non-surgical options and Botox is not achieving the results they are looking for. Receive a complimentary consultation with our Nurse Practitioner to see if you are a good candidate for UPNEEQ.
