Particularly cosmetic dermatology is understanding the varied cosmetic concerns of a diverse patient population. There will be continued innovation and increased options in treating and preventing the signs of aging internally and externally. There will not be just a focus on looking better but on feeling and functioning better through procedures and lifestyle.
The biggest misconception of dermatology:
The biggest misconception about dermatology is that it is easy and it is just cosmetic. A board-certified dermatologist must first be an excellent medical doctor. Our expertise on the medical side gives us the ability to offer superior care on the cosmetic side.

When I was training, a nurse asked one of the professors if she needed a peel. He responded, "you need a peel like you need air!" Patients in my practice love the chemical peel options. They are fast and of great value. They treat a variety of medical and cosmetic concerns. I have the expertise to treat patients of all ethnic backgrounds. When I was training, I was told that you couldn't do peels on the skin of color, but skin of color can often benefit most from a chemical peel. You just need the expertise to match the right peel with the right person.

My most memorable patient reaction is when…
A patient from out of state saw my YouTube video on dermatosis papulosa nigra removal (DPN removal) and flew in for an appointment. She looked in the mirror when I was done and instantly began crying and shaking. I was worried she wasn't happy, but she was thrilled! Many doctors told her that her DPN couldn't be removed, but all her lesions were gone after seeing me.

We are straightforward with people. We only want to offer what we think will work. We are transparent with patients about what they need to do. We have high standards, and we like to keep things simple.
