At Haute Beauty expert Dr. Yuly Gorodisy’s office, he sees patients day in and day out who are looking to achieve different end results. Understanding the diversity in decisions, Haute Beauty asked Dr. Gorodisky questions that dived into the greater details of the procedure, highlighting everything from the most common question asked in a consult to what a patient should know before surgery to be confident in their decision. Here is what he shared:
What is the most common question that you get asked by a patient who is looking for breast augmentation?
The most common question patients ask when consulting about breast enhancement is the size of the implants. Some patients may request a cup size or a specific implant volume/size. Some may have discussed implant sizes with their friends, but one thing you have to realize is that one size does not fit all, and the same implant size may look completely different on different women. The implant selection is determined by the patient shape/frame, their natural breast size and density of breast tissue, and their desired look. So the key to size selection is to have an open mind and focus on the final look and not worry about specific numbers or cup sizes.

Do your patients know what size breasts they are aiming for? How do you guide them in making the final decision?
My recommendation for patients who are trying to decide their ideal breast implant size is to find some photos of their goal look. I usually ask patients to find photos of women wearing clothes they would like to wear and achieve the same look. A certain dress or a top, or a certain amount of cleavage may be the best way to visually communicate the appropriate implant choice. Another way is using 3D photo imaging that may also predict the size and shape of the breasts with various implants. It is important to be honest with your desires and pick the size that will make you happy and not others in your life who might suggest a certain look.
What do you ensure your patients know before having surgery?
Patients have to understand that inserting an implant or performing a lift will change their breasts permanently. There is a small possibility that they may lose some sensation in their nipple, have pain, and will have some scar tissue after surgery. Patients also have to know that having implants will require future follow-ups and implant evaluation for leaks and possible replacement surgery in the future.
