Teeth are always in style. Just like your hair, makeup, or even your clothes, your teeth age with wear and can be fixed with cosmetic treatments. As the stains, mishaps, damages, and misalignments start to surface, so does the desire for fixing these imperfections. Veneers are a minimally invasive way to restore the damage that has been done over time. Think about it this way, porcelain veneers are a new layer of enamel on your teeth with many benefits and a few risks. To learn more about veneers Haute Beauty sat down with expert Dr. Troy Pearce to discuss.

What are the main risks to veneers?

Veneers can last a lifetime if done in the proper conditions. Those conditions include optimal periodontal (gum) health, good hygiene practices, and most importantly a proper “bite” which means the top and bottom teeth are contacting well with each other from top to bottom. If you’ve had orthodontics in the past or you didn’t “need” braces you’re most likely a good candidate.

Is there a certain person who benefits more from veneers than another?

The most optimal condition to benefit from veneers is those patients who want to add contour or volume to their teeth. Usually, these patients think their teeth are small. This situation calls for little to no modification of the existing enamel.

What are the main benefits to veneers?

  • Veneers protect from cavities,
  • Protect from functional wear causing the teeth to shorten,
  • Improve the color of the teeth and never stain or change color,
  • Improve the contour of the teeth.

How can a person experience all the benefits of veneers?

Having a well-experienced cosmetic dentist working with you is the most important decision in the whole process. Ask the doctor to show photographs of their case library. Be sure to consider the quality of the photos as well. If a doctor is a true cosmetic dentist their photography will be impeccable. The price range for veneers should be between $1.5K and $2K per tooth. Anything more than this is exorbitant and anything less would most likely be an inexperienced doctor.
