From body contouring to lip injections, Haute Beauty expert and Brand Ambassador Dr. Sachin Shridharani gets asked to contour it all. To learn more about body contouring, specifically with injectables, Haute Beauty Editor Brooke Klaiman went on Instagram live with Dr. Shridharani to discuss. Here are highlights from their conversation:

Haute Beauty: What has made body contouring more in demand?

Dr. Sachin Shridharani: In recent months to years, we have seen a drastic shift in body contouring options. Back in the day, body contouring did not serve any benefit to a patient; now, with emerging technology and new treatment types, we can move the needle to make things work. For example, what used to require a scalpel can now be supplemented with a syringe.

Haute Beauty: How did Surgery In A Syringe come about?

SS: What are aesthetic injectables? And is it Botox? The answer is no. Cosmetic injectables have four proud classes: neuromodulators, dermal fillers, fat dissolving injections, and now also FDA- approved cellulite injections.

Botox is a type of neuromodulator that comes in four formulas: Botox, Jeuveau, Xeomin, and Dysport. Dermal fillers are plumping and volumizing agents. On the other hand, Juvederm, Restylane, and Sculptra are only volumizing agents.

Fat-dissolving injections, aka Surgery In A Syringe, get rid of fat with Kybella, the world's only FDA-approved fat injection. Surgery In A Syringe transpired as I continued to see patients who came in for my expertise but did not want to undergo surgery. When I noticed this trend, I decided it was time to use dermal fillers and neuromodulators to help my patients reach their end goals aesthetically.

Haute Beauty: Is Surgery In A Syringe permanent?

SS: We create fat cells twice in our lives, in the fetus and during puberty. Most of the time, we can maintain a diet, follow a steady workout routine, and handle our sporadic hormonal changes. Once you receive Kybella, aka Surgery In A Syringe, your fat cells will never return. As the results are permanent, I recommend continuing with the same health and wellness routine you followed before the treatment to sustain results.
