This year, the Venice Film Festival watched the pinnacle of glamour grace its red carpet. But among all the stars who made an appearance, none shined brighter than Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. Indeed, the image of this iconic couple’s red carpet debut will forever be ingrained in our minds, and likewise, so will J Lo’s picture-perfect blowout.
Of course, Lopez couldn’t flaunt her elegant layers without longtime hairstylist Chris Appleton. “It’s basically my favorite look: bombshell glam,” Appleton told Vogue. “Just bouncy, swishy, effortless. Hair that when you walk, walks with you. Also, we’re in Venice, so it’s good for J Lo to bring that va-va-voom.”

As it turns out, you could actually achieve the same volume and curls that the 52-year-old actress brought to the limelight. First, Appleton prepped Lopez’s locks with Color Wow’s Dream Coat and a daub of the same brand’s Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer before using a round brush and curling iron. This step made sure Lopez’s hair not only shined, but didn’t look too done — essentially, creating a carefree cascade of layers.
To finish, the Color Wow Extra Mist-ical Shine Spray added a gentle touch of radiance to Lopez’s already regal look. “She just has that glow,” Appleton said about J Lo. “She pushes the boundaries and tries stuff, but she keeps on brand and goes with what feels good. There’s always a bit of softness.” Sure enough, Affleck’s dark smoldering edge perfectly complemented the softness that Lopez exuded. Welcome back, Bennifer.
