Anxiety and bewilderment will likely overcome any woman who discovers a lump in their breast. Indeed, the moment can feel scary and arouse panic, but like Teyana Taylor, one should take action after feeling something abnormal with their breasts. Recently, the 30-year-old singer and actress revealed that she underwent surgery to remove her breast lumps. Though now in the clear, she said the recovery process wasn’t easy.

A recent episode of “We Got Love Teyana & Iman” — Taylor and husband Iman Shumpert’s reality television series — revealed that Taylor received emergency surgery in Miami after finding lumps in her breast. Although a biopsy on her dense breast tissue confirmed that the actress was fine, she settled on the surgical removal for her own peace of mind. “I just want this to be the last time I go through this. Cancer runs through my family, so it's a scary thing both for me and Iman,” Taylor said during the episode.

Given the “complicated” procedure, Taylor was required to stay in the hospital for a week. Not only was she kept away from her family, but the doctors advised that she avoid picking up or holding her two daughters — 5-year-old Junie and 11-month-old Rue — for six weeks.

“I'm definitely overwhelmed because I miss my kids so much, I miss Iman so much,” she said. “That's probably the longest I've been away from them. My number one priority is to hurry up and get back home, but I know I need to take care of what I need to take care of as well.”

Despite the difficult recovery process, Taylor remains pleased knowing the surgery will keep her present and healthy for her children in the long run. “I accept every single body scar, everything that comes with mommy-hood,” she said. “But the changes physically, mentally, emotionally, it's crazy. As mommies, we really are super-women.”
