To start off her process towards seemingly effortless beach waves, Hailey Bieber begins by prepping her hair before reaching for any styling tools. She explains that prepping and treatment is essential to both the before and after portion of styling her hair into waves. The initial and true beginning of her wavy hair routine starts with washing. With a clean and refreshed base, she follows her wash with Ouai's Volume Spray to add a volumizing effect. She then blow-dries her hair and after it dries, spritzes each section with a texturing spray before clipping up the top layer.
Now with her hair clean, refreshed, and prepped, she is ready to begin the styling portion. Bieber uses a Dyson Corrale Straightener. Claiming that the hair tool was a gift from hairstylist Jen Atkin, she emphasizes that a simple flatiron technique can be equally as effective as using a plethora of differing curling irons and wands. Her approach to beach waves starts with the bottom layer of her hair then finishes with the top layer. As she demonstrates the technique and explains it to her YouTube platform, she admittedly cannot gather a concise description of the wave-making motion. She simply concludes that her method is "kind of just a wave motion" executed throughout each section of the hair.
When the flatiron straightener and her waving technique have been used on her full head of hair, Bieber goes back in to look for any area that may need retouching. Once she is satisfied with the results of her work, she reapplied a texturing spray once more. Then, she follows with a spray of dry shampoo applied to her roots. As a finishing touch, her "last-last step" calls for a light-hold hairspray all over her hair. While her approach merely consists of a simple few steps and is attainable for all, it is sure to present a stunning yet effortless look perfect for a lively night out or any occasion that calls for beautiful beach waves.
