Photo Credit: ShutterstockThough Lori Harvey has always had a spot in the limelight (after all, she is the daughter of comedic TV presenter Steve Harvey), it seems now the 24-year-old beauty has really made a name for herself in the fashion and beauty sphere. As if we could forget the custom glittering gold Prada gown she wore to a private premiere party at boyfriend Michael B. Jordan’s home.
In the latest installment of Vogue’s Beauty Secrets, Harvey shared her ‘90s inspired makeup routine. She began by washing her face with a cleanser — coming out of her soon-to-launch skincare line — that has a low PH for sensitive skin. She then followed with a toner. “I’ve always been really obsessed with having super hydrated and glowy skin,” Harvey said in the video.
She continued her skincare by using two serums: one to help her with scarring and evening her skin tone, and the other to nourish her face with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. After, she applied eye cream. “My mom always taught me, prevention is better than correction,” Harvey said. “So making the perfect eye cream was very, very, very important for me when I was making my skincare line.”

After applying moisturizer (which she combined with yet another serum) and lip balm, she used primer on her skin to begin her makeup. Harvey then shared her tip from a makeup artist: taking a small brush and sweeping the face with a thin layer of translucent powder to help her foundation go on smoothly. She followed with setting spray, foundation, a contour stick, and concealer.
Before brushing and filling in her eyebrows, Harvey applied a thick layer of translucent powder under her eyes, between her brows, and on her chin to bake. To define her brows, Harvey took a concealer on a small brush and applied it directly under each one. She blended the powder (except the area under her eyes) and applied eyebrow gel.
Her contouring regimen used two bronzers, and then Harvey applied a brown eyeshadow for a bronze look. “For like my everyday makeup, I usually like to stay in like a bronzy, brown, taupe, nude colorway,” she said. “If I’m feeling really spicy, I might go more into like orangy tones.” She then completed her eyeliner using an eyeshadow.
Harvey wasn’t shy to pack on the blush. “I love to look at old ‘90s glam kind of for like inspiration when I’m doing my makeup. I just feel like that was such a timeless era… and everything was very effortless,” she said before applying a lip liner and lip gloss.
While speaking of her beauty inspiration, Pat McGrath, Harvey said, “there’s definitely a lack of Black women in the beauty space and in the skincare space, so (McGrath) definitely inspired me to create my own brand.” Finally, she applied setting spray and a highlighter for an extra dewy look.
