Achievements are perpetual for me, but I do have to say that one of the greatest obstacles I overcame turned into a steppingstone was creating Synergistiq/Continuum, my integrative/anti-aging practice at a very challenging time in my life. My father had just passed away unexpectedly and I was going through a divorce and was a single, independent mom to three boys. Synergistiq was a rebirth of my soul, and I felt like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
The future of my field is:
There is a very bright future for integrative/anti-aging medicine. This field keeps growing and expanding, and I am so lucky to be an early trend-setter over a decade ago.
The biggest misconception about my field is:
I would have to say there are no true misconceptions anymore as this field of medicine has gained so much momentum and popularity. I feel early on people thought this was an alternative medicine that went against traditional medicine, and that could not be further from the truth. I am in fact a traditionally trained, double-board-certified MD, and integrative medicine truly is what people are looking for. It is treating the mind-body-spirit through a healthy lifestyle that is proactive and preventative, instead of being reactive and waiting to fall ill.
My most requested procedures are:
IV therapies, aesthetics such as RF micro-needling and laser skin resurfacing, and body sculpting with truSculpt flex and truSculpt ID. In-depth consults for thyroid/adrenal health, gut health, weight loss, hormones, nutrition, medical marijuana, and overall health optimization are popular as well. That is the core of my practice really.
What advancements are you most excited about?
Everything in integrative medicine is exciting, and always on the forefront. There is so much to offer in the way of mental and physical and emotional wellbeing, I really do it all in my practice.
What are you best known for?
I am best known for being diverse and offering a potpourri of services. Patients love the one-stop-shop feel they get when they come to my practice, because I offer so many varied services, and I do it all myself. Patient interaction is very important to me and my patients truly appreciate the hands-on care I personally give them.
What is your most memorable patient reaction?
I have so many, to be honest, but one of my top ones is a patient flying in from TN with a newborn and his wife to receive detox treatment so he can get his life back together again. It was a truly heartwarming experience for me, especially helping them out financially. Patients place their trust and confidence in me, and I give them 110%. To help people in dire need is what makes everything I do worth it.
What sets my practice apart:
I offer so many services and I address mind-body-spirit. I look at a person as a whole, not dissecting their systems and putting a bandage on their issues but delving into the root cause of why they are suffering.
What I love most about my profession:
I can help thousands of people without expectations. As an empath, my calling in life is to heal and nurture, and being a physician allows me to do just that.
Career defining moments:
What I am really proud of is that I started with nothing to my name, amongst hardships in my life. I never advertised my practice; it was all organic growth and word of mouth. I started appearing in the media and on the news and blogging, and through hard work and persistence, I eventually became a faculty speaker for the renowned American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) which is global. I had planned this year to travel and speak in Dubai and Thailand and Taiwan, but unfortunately, 2020 turned out to be a bit of a surprise and all my travel got postponed. I am also a speaker for several other organizations, and I enjoy spreading the wealth of health, it is my true passion. I am also now expanding into a second location and am very excited about all the new potential and growth.
What new services are you excited to offer?
Aesthetics is the newest service I added. Everything from body sculpting to fillers to neuromodulators to PDO threads the RF micro-needling and laser treatments, the list goes on. Though I encourage my patients to work from the inside out, it is important to understand that when we feel good about the way we look, we are more likely to take care of ourselves by eating right and exercising, etc. My 4 pillars of a healthy lifestyle are what I practice and what I preach…clean diet, restorative sleep, exercise, and stress reduction. The entirety of our well-being depends on how we view ourselves. I guide and empower patients on their journey to wellness of the mind-body-spirit.
