The ‘Dior Photo Award for Emerging Talents’ is a photography competition with applicants from around the world, submitting their works from early spring of this year. This year, the theme was “‘Woman-Women’s Faces’ embodying ‘Color,’ ‘Femininity’ and ‘Beauty.'” This year, 10 laureates were chosen to display their works at the Dior exhibition at the Grande Halle in the Parc des Ateliers hosted by LUMA Arles, as well as two honorary mention submissions.

Winner Gangao Lang’s piece, entitled ‘Second Self-Introduction,’ was chosen as the winning piece by industry notables and executives, including Jury President and French photographer Dominique Isserman; President and Founder of LUMA Arles Maja Hoffman; French photographer Sonia Sieff; Director of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie Simon Baker; President & CEO of Christian Dior Perfumes Claude Martinez; and Dior Makeup Creative & Image Director Peter Philips. “Beauty is a global language, which takes a young girl with a dream as a starting point, and ends up as a woman with vision,” said Lang.

In addition to the prestige, Lang will receive a 10,000 Euro grant from the House of Dior. The House of Dior will also commission a creative piece from the artist. Gangao Lang + her fellow chosen applicants’ pieces will be on display at the Grande Halle at the Parc des Ateliers from July 1st until September 22nd in Arles, France.
