Brows, dyed in bright shades, are arching over Instagram, with a scrum of celebrities leading the charge.
Oddly styled brows are nothing novel – for seasons, they have flitted on the catwalks. Only now, though, are they peeling out of the haute confines of brands like Gucci and Balenciaga and entering the mainstream under the guide of starts in the ranks of Solange.
Although Solange has largely eschewed over-the-top styling for a natural visage that bears her mocha skin and curly mob, she ushered in the bright-brow movement. In late June, the singer posted two Instagram pictures of her lustrous brows painted in a deep velvet hue that popped up against her unmade complexion. Since then, the look has garnered over 200, 000 likes.
Jewelry designer Vera Balyura and DJ Juliana Huxtable take a bolder approach to the nascent trend. The two have smeared their brows in eye-catching shades of crimson and blue, and employed daring eyeshadows and lipstick to enhance the peculiar appearance.
After the feather-brow furor that began as a joke on Instagram several months ago, the current brow mode is still to acquire its disparate hashtag and eager-to-try horde of Instagramers.
