Tammy Randall Wood has spent her career doing something most designers only aspire to — creating spaces that do not just look beautiful, but genuinely change the way people live in them.
As the founder and principal of Interior Archaeology, a full-service interior architecture and design firm based in the Los Angeles area, Tammy brings over 20 years of experience, a rare academic pedigree, and a deeply personal design philosophy to every project she takes on. Her work spans the full spectrum of residential design — from thoughtful renovations and architectural refinements to complete ground-up transformations — with a signature aesthetic that is at once breezy, sophisticated, and unmistakably Southern California.
A Philosophy Rooted in Storytelling Tammy's approach to design was shaped long before she ever set foot in a design studio. Raised in Los Angeles and spending part of her childhood on film sets around the world with her father — an action director and stuntman — she developed an early and profound understanding of how environments tell stories. Ancient ruins, foreign marketplaces, and the architecture of cultures far from home taught her that authentic materials are not decorative choices — they are the foundation of how a place makes you feel.
That insight became the cornerstone of her design philosophy, which she calls Creating Noble Spaces. To Tammy, a noble space is not defined by luxury or opulence. It is an environment with the power to support and reflect the life you are building — one that captures the essence of your tastes, your aspirations, and your story.
Interior Archaeology — Los Angeles Interior Design with a Global Sensibility Interior Archaeology is celebrated for its signature Southern California aesthetic — a harmonious blend of modern, organic, and vintage elements that results in interiors that feel simplified, livable, and deeply personal. The firm excels at every stage of the design process, from refining architectural plans and designing intricate finishes to managing full-scale renovations and collaborating closely with contractors to ensure flawless execution.
What sets Interior Archaeology apart is not just aesthetic sensibility — it is process. The firm integrates digital sketch technology and 3D visualization tools that allow clients to experience the full design concept before construction begins. This translates to more precise communication with builders and fabricators, fewer surprises, and results that consistently match the vision. Over the course of her career, Tammy and her team have designed projects from coast to coast, demonstrating a remarkable range across styles, scales, and client needs — from minor makeovers to extensive architectural remodels in the Los Angeles area and beyond.
Education, Credentials & Recognition Tammy studied Television and Film at California State University, Northridge before going on to study Interior Design at Parsons School of Design. She holds the NCIDQ Certificate — one of the highest professional accreditations in the interior design field — and maintains professional membership in both the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA).
Interior Archaeology is proud to be part of the Dering Hall Designer network and has been recognized with the Best of Houzz award year after year — a testament to the consistent quality and client satisfaction that defines the firm.
