Maria Sapozhnikova is a broadcast news journalist, producer and television reporter. She has been working on news and current affairs for four years. She studied TV journalism part time at the University of Westminster in London and continued her studies in journalism at Moscow State University, the oldest educational establishment in Russia. Previously she reported for several Russian TV channels covering the latest fashion and cultural news. Currently she works for the BBC News in the Moscow Bureau dealing with all major international stories. At the same time she continuously cooperates with Russian fashionable magazines including Tatler researching the latest social and lifestyle news. During her reporting experience she interviewed myriad A-list celebrities on their visits to the Russian capital, including Elton John, Paris Hilton, Roberto Cavalli, and reported on all highlights of Russian social and cultural life. In addition, she ran Mirror, a Russian modeling agency, for two years, organizing different fashion events including a week of German Fashion in Moscow. She is also responsible for public relations at her cousin’s fashion house Angel couture and recently established a new fashion brand for designer clothes.

Moscow Film Festival Kicks off With the World Premiere of Transformers

The world premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon opened the 33rd Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) last night at the Pushkinsky Theater, Russia’s main film venue. Several stars of the film walked MIFF’s red carpet (which was green this year) for the premiere, including Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich (who received a lifetime achievement award at the opening ceremony) and Tyrese Gibson, as well as director Michael Bay and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce.

Russian Government to Auction Luxury Hotel National

The Moscow government intends to auction luxury 5-star hotel National, a historic landmark in the heart of Russia’s capital and one of its most famous hotels, the city’s government said earlier in a week. National hotel has once numbered Vladimir Lenin among its guests (Lenin lived here in 1918, after the Bolsheviks seized power and moved from St. Petersburg).
