Haute Alert: New West Hollywood Library Opening This Fall
The building of the new West Hollywood Library and community center, part of The West Hollywood Park Master Plan in West Hollywood, broke ground in early 2009. Two years later, phase 1 of the complex is almost complete (ahead of time) and set to debut this Fall with the Community Dedication and Grand Opening set for Saturday, October 1. The opening of the complex comes at the perfect time coordinating with the 25th Anniversary of the West Hollywood community.
Hautels: Grand Hyatt Malaysia to Open in 2012
This just in hotel news: The Grand Hyatt is set to open a property in Kuala Lumpur in 2012. The move marks the brand’s introduction into Malaysia, further increasing the presence of Hyatt-branded hotels in Southeast Asia. The news comes shortly after the announcement of the opening of another Hyatt brand, Andaz, in Shanghai (we covered it here). In the past year, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts have been on the uprise, expanding dramatically around the world and especially in the Asian countries where tourism is at an all-time high. Tourism projections for 2012 are positive and expected to rise as well, beating out the statistics for 2010 and 2011.
Night Tap Launches at Las Palmas Nightclub
Night Tap, LA’s newest luxury deal website, launched on June 29 with a rocking bash at the hipster spot, Las Palmas Nightclub. The site is the brainchild of LA native Kenny Kadar and focuses exclusively on nightlife. The trendy crowd (over 300 people attended) danced to the beats of DJ Ted Hirsh before heading to the official afterparty at Sky Bar at the Mondrian.

Hautels: Andaz Shanghai Opening Soon
Earlier this year, Hyatt announced exciting plans for expansion of its modern boutique hotel brand, Andaz, to Shanghai, China. Opening was set for summer. It’s halfway through the summer season and Andaz has yet to open, but keep on the lookout as it’s set to open any day now! The opening in the Xintiandi region of Shanghai marks the first Andaz in Asia. Xintiandi is an entertainment area in the heart of downtown Shanghai and a short walk to the Metro and the prestigious Huai Hai Zhong Road, one of the city’s premier shopping areas, known worldwide as the shopper’s paradise.
Save the Date: Etude Wine Dinner at Meat Market
Miami is not one for being left behind. Here’s yet another wine dinner to indulge in the month July. Join fellow wine connoisseurs on Wednesday, July 20 at the deliciously trendy Meat Market for a tasting of the fine wines from the Etude Estate in California. The winery is located in the region of Carneros, which straddles the borders of both Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. Carneros is unique in that it holds a distinct appellation and produces some of the best Pinot Noirs in the country. The Etude Estate was established 25 years ago and is best known for its exquisite light white wines and sexy Pinot Noirs.
Lauren Bush Launches Exclusive Collection for Calypso St. Barth
Lauren Bush, most known for her famous last name, has turned her love for fashion into a booming business that is socially conscious and fabulously chic. Fully involved in all of the aspects of her fashion endeavors, she’s got the credentials to back it up having taken design courses at both Parsons Design School in New York and St. Martin’s School of Art & Design in London. She even interned at Zac Posen’s design studio.
Prada Debuts $40,000 Handbag

This week, Prada debuts a deliciously sumptuous looker for the big money spenders. The limited-edition handbag (word is only 22 bags were designed), priced at $40,000, is made of crocodile skin and lined with ultra soft nappa leather. The bag also comes with a treat inside- a detachable clutch, perfect for a night out on the town. And to ensure exclusivity, the bag features a metal tag with a code number.
Hautels: Joie de Vivre Hospitality Expands to Arizona
Joie de Vivre, California’s hottest boutique hotel company, is expanding to Scottsdale, Arizona. The expansion marks the company’s first property outside of California and the launch of their sweep through the country with plans for openings in Seattle, Miami, and Chicago in the coming years. The company is most known for its fun and whimsical hotels most notably the Petite Auberge and Hotel Angeleno. Joie de Vivre will manage the new property under the ownership of The Sydell Group, who also famously own The Ace Hotels in both New York and Palm Springs, as well as April Bloomdfield’s The Breslin.
