Wow, am I glad we have evolved from the ‘80s speed-walking craze.

Jogging (or “yogging”? It might be a soft “J”) has become quite the customary sport around the neighborhoods of athletic Dallasites. The gear has progressed, from the running shoes to the iPod playlists, to the fact that you are now confident enough to run without the T-shirt (speaking specifically to male “yoggers” here.)

Texas Stadium, home to 38 seasons of the Dallas Cowboys, was blown up to rubble this weekend…by an 11 year-old boy. Casey Rogers won an essay contest and got to be the big button-pusher for the emotional demolition of the club that housed America’s Team for decades.

The US Open. The French Open. Wimbledon. They all mean one thing: sweating, grunting, handsome men in shorts.

OK, maybe it means something different to you, but the constant thwop-thwop-thwop of the tennis ball is only bearable for me if eye candy is involved. If you’re more into, say, the score, or performance, I’d suggest hitting any of these five courts below to work on that double fault.

Every time a celebrity function is held in Dallas, people can pick up on the scent. It’s like, catching a whiff of Italian leather amidst the usual stench of cowhide. This is how last night I ended up in an elevator with Bill Paxton.

If there is anything Erykah Badu knows, it’s how to get a foot in the spotlight–or in this case, a return to relevancy. One can either go straight for the sex scandal (a la “A Night in Paris”), or, well, death.

So I was getting my hair done yesterday and, like most stylist/client relationships, we spent the entirety of the session gossiping. While there was talk about love lives and the economic climate, there was one highlight that stuck in my memory. Another client called my guy while I was baking under the heat lamps, and he later mentioned she was his least favorite to work with. “She’s been coming in for 12 years, and every time she says, ‘We just didn’t get it right last time,’” he said. “But she won’t go to anyone else. She never goes north of 635.” Wait what?

I don’t know what you gave up for Lent, but I gave up my biggest weakness: cheese. In every form. And do you know how many delicious things are covered in or filled with cheese?
