About 80 percent of fruits and vegetables we use at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco come from the farmers’ market. I try to go to the Marin Civic Center Farmers’ Market a couple times a week because I like to pick out the produce myself. It gives me the opportunity to see what’s available—see if the peaches are actually ripe. I go in the morning, come home, clean up, and then head to work.

On Tuesday, Oct. 19, Montres Passion Magazine named the Miss Golden Bridge watch with the women’s watch of the year 2010 and overall third prize of the jury. Before a panel of 500 people, Antonio Calce, CEO of Corum, received the double award for the Miss Golden Bridge timepiece.

On Thursday, Oct. 14, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, a contemporary ballet company guided since 1982 by Alonzo King, hosted a special gala in celebration of its fall 2010 season. The gala was held in the ballet company’s hometown of San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and included a special performance by the ballet company’s own Scheherazade.

This year, Chopard celebrates its 150th anniversary, an astonishing feat for a family-run business. The Swiss luxury watch and jewelry company is one of the most sought-after timepiece brands in the world with more than 100 boutiques worldwide.

The L.A. born and bred Wes Carroll is a jewelry-industry veteran, and joined the Chopard team in 2007 as the West Coast regional director.
