SugarHouse Sweetens The Pot in Philly
Las Vegas is the ultimate destination for some high-stakes blackjack, and our nearby buddy Atlantic City is always good for a midnight drive and some Texas Hold-Em. But when you are in the city and have some cash you need to burn, it’s all about SugarHouse Casino. Philadelphia’s first is just opened this week and has all the card games, slots and entertainment to keep you from traveling elsewhere.
Twenty-four hours a day, the sparkling new spot in the city’s Fishtown neighborhood will be buzzing with cash-making possibility. All the traditional games are up and running, including roulette, craps and baccarat. The slots parlors are packed, too, with a theme for every player.
When the thrill of making (or, perhaps, loosing) money fades, SugarHouse has plenty of other distractions. The Refinery Bar hosts live music and DJs Wednesday through Saturday, and serves up local micro-brews and classic eats (try to snag a table on the patio overlooking the Delaware River before the season turns chilly). Two other food spots — the 24-hour Jack’s Sandwiches & Sweets and the sports-themed Lucky Red — also help keep up your stamina.
SugarHouse’s location inside the city makes it uber easy for bar hoppers, tourists and convention-goers to spend their evening doing something a little different. Starting later in October, the casino will make it even easier for them to find themselves on the game room floor with the Sugar Express, a free shuttle that will connect the city’s most popular attractions with the casino’s front door.
