Towne Makes Hynes Tastier

The Hynes Convention Center is a concrete conclave running along Boylston Street from Dalton Street right up the Prudential Tower and has long been the location for meetings and conventions right in the heart of the city.  One thing the spot has never been known for, however, is tasty treats. Utilizing empty corners of its street front property formerly uninhabited, the Hynes is now home to Towne Stove and Spirits, with The Capital Grille following suit by next summer, leaving its Newbury Street home of twenty years.

Opening up earlier this summer, Towne Stove and Spirits is situated at the corner of the Hynes closest to the Pru on Boylston Street.  With culinary directors Jasper White (Summer Shack) and Lydia Shire (Locke-Ober, Scampo), two local food legends who have paired together before to delight local taste buds, coupled with Executive Chef Mario Capone’s inspiring menu, Towne is bringing a tasty twist to the restaurant savvy Back Bay area.

The menu is ample, diverse and full of comfort favorites served in some unconventional ways.  From shared steak plates, to hearty local seafood and wood-fired rotisserie chicken, staying full and focused after a meal at Towne should be easy… after a nap, of course.  Who wouldn’t want a lie down after a 2-3lb. lobster served with lobster sausage, whisky butter and frites?

Appearing rather diminutive outside, when seen housed within the massive Hynes structure, the space surprisingly offers seating for 380 people and has been cleverly broken into smaller dining areas making for many discoveries as one explores the space and more opportunities for an intimate dining experience. On warmer weather days dining expands outdoors with patio dining for 80.

The restaurant was developed by the Lyons Group in partnership with the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority to bring a diversified dining option to both Boston visitors and locals alike.
