Fall into Fun: Atlanta Arts Festival 2010
After the endless high temperatures that filled our sweltering days and nights this summer, I’d say that the cooler degrees, rustling leaves and new activities of fall has everyone eager to partake in the time of year when everything begins again. Fun returns this weekend to Piedmont Park with the Atlanta Arts Festival where the whole family can enjoy a variety of the city’s best art.
Just when you thought that outdoor festival season was over, here comes the Atlanta Arts Festival to revive the energy and excitement that festivals are known for. There are so many things to do that you may have just a little trouble deciding what to indulge in first. Start things off by viewing the beautiful masterpieces created by 200 of the country’s best artists. In addition to displaying their works, several participating artists will also teach demonstration classes to highlight how the magic happens. Once class is over, head over to the artist market where you can purchase all of the artistic interpretations to take home and admire.
Several Atlanta restaurants are contributing items from their menu to serve at the weekend event. Thai Thai, Dunwoody Café, Williamson Bros. BBQ and Caribbean Grill & More are just a few participating vendors and we all know that food is the best part of any festival. Also look for the live entertainment segment of the event which includes performance art, live music and a musical theater performance. Face-painting and storytelling for the kids is a great addition to the festivities that involve the whole family. After your weekend errands and commitments be sure to head over to Piedmont Park and enjoy the festival this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This event is free to the public, parking on-site is limited and MARTA is strongly suggested.
The Atlanta Arts Festival will take place at 400 Park Dr. NE 770.941.9660
