What Happens 64 Floors Above Vegas Is Worth Telling Everyone About

Skyfall, the 64th-floor rooftop lounge at W Las Vegas, is back after a Rockwell Group redesign, with caviar-paired martinis to boot.

After a Rockwell Group makeover, Skyfall is back on the 64th floor of W Las Vegas, with caviar-paired martinis, weekend DJs and the same jaw-dropping view.

Las Vegas loves a grand reopening almost as much as it loves a grand opening, but this one has earned the fanfare. Skyfall, the rooftop bar and lounge perched 64 floors up at W Las Vegas, is back after going dark this summer for a top-to-bottom redesign by Rockwell Group, and it has returned with a new cocktail menu, weekend DJs and, of course, that view.

The view, mercifully, didn’t need renovating. The Strip runs off toward the horizon, the desert sky cycles through colors no lighting designer would dare pitch, and whatever you had planned for later quietly becomes optional.

Gold Tones, Sky Views

Rockwell Group has wrapped the lounge in warm, rich tones and polished metallic accents, which is the smart play. When the city outside is that loud, the room should feel like a jewelry box. The skyline is still the star (it always will be), but the lounge now holds its own.

Golden hour is the obvious opening move. Get there while the sun is still up, order a round, and watch Vegas flip the switch. Thursday through Saturday, DJs take over and carry the night considerably further than you intended.

Martinis With a Little More Mischief

The new menu has personality to spare, starting with the Dirty Little Secret: Beefeater gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth, olive brine and orange bitters, garnished with hand-stuffed blue cheese olives and served with a caviar pairing. A dirty martini with expensive taste, in Las Vegas. Groundbreaking? No. Exactly right? Absolutely.

The Mojave Muse heads for the garden instead: butterfly pea flower, kaffir lime infusion, lemongrass syrup and Fever-Tree Sparkling Cucumber under a violet-infused gin float. That’s more botanicals than the surrounding desert sees in a year, and it looks the part.

And the Skyline Spritz was clearly named by someone who has watched the sun go down from up here. Grey Goose, Sarti Rosa, strawberry-lychee cordial, fresh lemon and peach bitters, finished with dehydrated strawberry and edible blossoms. Pretty, photogenic and in no hurry, which is precisely the mood.

Start Downstairs

The reopening comes with a ground-floor bonus. Living Room, W’s signature lobby lounge, also designed by Rockwell Group, sits just off the arrival lobby, opens at 2 p.m. and leans botanical, with cocktails and mocktails built on seasonal herbs and floral infusions. Consider it your warm-up lap.

The Rose gives the Lemon Drop a floral makeover with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Giffard Crème de Rose, fresh lemon, Madagascar vanilla and house-made rose sugar. Ube goes tiki with Mount Gay Eclipse Silver Rum and tropical citrus. Raspberry pairs botanical spirits with house-made raspberry syrup, lemon and botanical cordials, finished with a little fizz.

Just don’t settle in too comfortably. The main event is 64 floors up, and it does its best work at sunset.
