The New Ferragamo Cara Bag is Officially the It Bag of the Season
The Ferragamo Cara Bag is a new structured handbag introduced on the Fall-Winter 2026 runway, and is the hautest handbag of the season.
Ferragamo introduced the Cara Bag on its Fall-Winter 2026 runway, and it has already found its way into the right hands — Alix Earle was spotted carrying it during this season’s New York Fashion Week — the perfect off-duty endorsement. The bag is the kind of structured handbag the house does better than almost anyone — architectural in silhouette, precise in construction, and built with the Italian craftsmanship Ferragamo has spent decades perfecting.

The bag’s defining feature is its three-gusset accordion structure, which gives the Cara its distinctive profile while naturally expanding the interior. Inside, a central zipped compartment is flanked by two side compartments, a concealed front zip pocket beneath the flap, and a rear slip pocket — organized in the way a bag should be, without making a production of it. The iconic Gancini closure anchors the front, functioning as hardware and House signature in equal measure.

The construction numbers are worth knowing. Each Cara Bag is assembled from more than 100 individual components — including 25 precisely cut leather panels — and requires about ten hours of artisan work. More than 23 meters of thread run through every bag. These details separate a truly well-made bag from everything else at this price point, and Ferragamo has always known how to make that case in leather.
The Cara comes in smooth calf leather, eel, and alligator, each drawn from the runway collection and bringing something different to the same silhouette. The smooth calf is the entry point and the everyday argument. The eel and alligator are for the collector who already knows.
The Cara Bag arrives at exactly the right moment — when the conversation around handbags has shifted back toward craftsmanship and considered design over logomania. With its architectural silhouette, it has every quality of a bag that defines a season.
