Freedom and Fabulous for All: The Liberty Hotel
Once upon a time, a jailhouse was built on Charles Street. Nearly two centuries later, the greatest transformation of all was hatched: the facelift from an infamous slammer into the opulent Liberty Hotel.
Situated in the heart of Boston proper, the Liberty Hotel offers simple, yet breathtaking, sophistication at its finest. A $150 million renovation and grand opening in 2007 paved the way for 300 guestrooms and 6,000 square feet of unique meeting space — plus so much more. Feeling hungry from a day of boutique shopping on nearby Newbury Street? Guests and visitors alike can dine at world-renowned chef, Lydia Shire’s, 5-star restaurant, Scampo, where artisan pastas and cheeses please, and hand-picked daily specials satisfy the most demanding foodie. Care to mingle while enjoying the hotel’s 90-foot central rotunda and cupola? Head upstairs to Clink, where the view is a close second to Champagne and conversation. Nightlife lovers will adore Alibi, the hotel’s hip lobby bar weekend hot spot. (Try one of the signature, misdemeanor-inspired cocktails on the patio’s teak furniture in warmer months.)
Despite the Old Guard demeanor that’s dominated Beacon Hill for centuries, the Liberty Hotel fits into the neighborhood perfectly, its modern persona subtly subdued by grand architecture and luxe amenities. An attentive concierge awaits your beck and call, whether you need an appointment in a flash at one of Boston’s many day spas or your bed turned down at night, while a 24-hour health and fitness center can rejuvenate the weary in a jiff.
Historic? Check. Distinctive? Check. One of Boston’s most swank, hip and cool luxury boutique hotels? Check, check and check.
The Liberty Hotel is located at 115 Charles St., 617.224.4000.
