Saks Fifth Avenue Welcomes Parisian Dining
The iconic NYC Saks Fifth Avenue now boasts an upscale Parisian restaurant, L’Avenue at Saks. The destination marks the first and only venture of L’Avenue outside of Paris.
Designed by renowned architect Philippe Starck, the restaurant spans two floors with a 1945 French Art Deco-inspired dining room on the 9th floor and Le Chalet—a bar and lounge offering cozy, après-ski style interiors on the 8th floor.
The dining room features brushed oak wide wood plank flooring accented with soft rugs and large glass vitrines with surrealistic objects throughout, creating a dream-like atmosphere. Logs procured from Europe run the length of the ceiling in Le Chalet, and views of Rockefeller Center and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral offer a perfect NYC backdrop, complete with crafty cocktails and a cozy ambiance.
As for food, the all-day menu resembles what L’Avenue in Paris offers, with additions catered to the American customer. The restaurant is serving some of the most fashionable dishes, from New Style Yellowtail to Tom Yam Chili Sea Bass, and everything in between including shrimp risotto, spicy lobster pasta, beef tartare, Peking duck and more.
Descend a swooping staircase to Le Chalet, which offers a few different dishes and complex cocktails. Expect duck foie gras, osetra caviar, spicy tuna tartare, shrimp dim-sum and sweet delights such as raspberry rose macaron, fruit salad, vanilla tart and cheesecake. Don’t forget the cocktails—try libations such as croissant and bubbles, which is croissant-infused cognac with chamomile and champagne, or the Mamie hot chocolate with rye whiskey, genepi and hot chocolate—which is the perfect winter cocktail.
L’Avenue at Saks serves dinner seven days a week, but there will be a lunch service beginning in early spring.
