We are excited to announce Van Cleef & Arpels will be opening its first Boston boutique on Newbury Street on March 28. The French jeweler’s new space will feature a modern interior designed in gold, onyx and dove grey tones along with a hand-crafted glass chandelier custom made in France as well as intricately decorated walls paneled in gold-leaf and Japanese silk.

This will also be the first Van Cleef & Arpels boutique in the US to house an exclusive room known as Salon 1906, which showcases a curated selection of heritage and iconic pieces dating from the 1900s, including the Collaret necklace and Ludo Bricks bracelet. (Salon 1906, which is named in honor of the founding year of Van Cleef & Arpels, invites clients to discover the history of the Maison through these jewelry masterpieces and technical innovations from the 20th century).

At the Boston opening in a couple of weeks, they will be celebrating with some beautiful new high jewelry pieces from the Snowflake collection, which launched in January, including two transformable necklaces and clips – all featuring diamonds set in platinum and white gold. Also on display will be new jewelry pieces from the Frivole and Two-Butterfly collections that will be launching March 20.

We caught up recently with Helen King, president and CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels Americas, to discuss their new location and some of the collections they will be offering.

Why did you decide to open a shop in Boston?

From the moment Van Cleef & Arpels first crossed the Atlantic, it established a special relationship with the cities on the East Coast, and we are pleased to finally welcome Boston to the family.  Boston is a city of extraordinary history and sophistication, traits which resonate deeply with the Maison’s core values. We look forward to inviting our Bostonion friends to our new home and enchanting them with the Maison’s iconic and unique jewelry creations.

Can you tell us a little about some of the collections you will be offering?

We are excited to share with Boston the latest pieces from the timeless Snowflake high jewelry collection that recently launched. This collection is inspired by the beauty of a snow-covered landscape, and was originally introduced by the Maison in the 1940s. These refined, transformable pieces are entirely set with diamonds and are a beautiful addition to our White Diamond High Jewelry collections. Nature is one of Van Cleef & Arpels’ most celebrated sources of inspiration and we continue embracing the wonders of nature through these highly poetic creations.

What are some of your signature pieces?

This “Snowflake” necklace pays homage to the world of couture, with its curved lines of round diamonds and Claudine collar shape. The sparkling snowflake motifs are inspired by the delicate lace of precious fabrics used in couture creations. In keeping with Van Cleef & Arpels’ tradition of transformable jewelry, this necklace can be worn in two different ways, and the necklace’s center motif can be worn alone as a pin, or as a pendant.
