Veuve Clicquot Brings Yelloweek Celebration To San Francisco
Next week the French Champagne house Veuve Clicquot is painting the town yellow. Allow me to introduce you to Yelloweek, a series of sparkling wine-centric events that are taking place September 22 through 28 in our beloved city. Veuve Clicquot has hosted the week-long celebration at locations throughout Canada, and San Francisco marks their US debut of the event.
“At Veuve Clicquot, we are excited for the US debut of Yelloweek in San Francisco, following the successful activations in Canada since 2012,” Michael Traynor, business development manager at Veuve Clicquot USA told Haute Living via email. “Timed to the harvest season, the festivities celebrate the ‘art de vivre’ of Veuve Clicquot, and we are proud to support the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank to help achieve their mission to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin.”
Champagne enthusiasts can purchase tickets to the events, which range from a chic brunch at the Rotunda at Neiman Marcus to a game night at the Hotel Zetta. Other not to be missed happenings include Saturday brunch at 25 Lusk, champs and oyster pairing at the St. Regis on Tuesday, and a women in wine party at the Riddler on Wednesday. The only event that requires a ticket is a fall-themed rooftop fete at the Fairmont on Thursday, September 27.
Yelloweek’s first US appearance coincides with the 200th anniversary of the creation of sparkling rosé. In 1818, the widow Clicquot created the first rose-colored Champagne. She blended a little of her red wine with her champagne and voila! The world was changed forever. Sip sip hooray!
