New Gluten-Free French Bistro Barbette Opens Up In West Hollywood
It’s no secret that LA loves all things gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan and new restaurant in town, Barbette, is giving the people what they want. Situated in West Hollywood, the stylish new French-inspired bar and bistro is brought to us by Sean MacPherson and Jared Meisler. The duo is also behind a bevy of other LA hotspots including The Pikey and Roger Room.
Executive chef Robert Flaherty leads the culinary team in creating dishes that are not only comforting in taste but also incorporate responsibly sourced ingredients and arrive beautifully plated too. The menu consists of mostly gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. Highlights include French classics such as moules mariniere with white wine, chicken diable, red rock cod, and steak frites. For dessert, buttermilk panna cotta and chocolate peanut tart with boozy cherries will not disappoint. Whatever you do, don’t leave without trying Flaherty’s heavenly housemade whole grain sourdough bread.
Barbette’s French vibes are also apparent in the cocktail program crafted by award-winning bartender Brittney Olsen. Classics cocktails are on the menu alongside Olsen’s housemade crème de cassis and absinthe. Meanwhile, general manager and sommelier Jen Avina offers an expertly curated list of French varietals from California and France.
All the gluten-free friendly fare and drinks are perfectly complemented by Barbette’s dreamy decor that oozes with Parisian vibes. Mosaic-patterned floors, oak paneling from France, a marble-topped bar, vintage mirrors, and burnt orange mohair booths are just some of the design elements that make the space pop.
The covered patio is just as chic resembling a funky French cafe with ivy-covered walls, a fireplace, herringbone brick floors, Moroccan light fixtures, marble table tops, and classic French garden chairs. Make a reservation at Barbette to enjoy a French feast without ever leaving LA.
