Porsche Carrera T: In The Zenith Of Fame
Porsche Carrera just got hotter, or at least one of the models it introduces. The latest definition of sportiness is emerging to the market come March, making it the 23rd possible option available in the lineup. This could be considered an entry level Porsche for any enthusiastic driver considering what a price tag of $102,000 will get you in a showroom of a Stuttgart manufacturer.
Only nine colors will be available to choose from and door skirts get stickers that distinguish you from other standard models. A manual seven speed transmission with a shorter transaxle ratio claims a 0.1 second shorter acceleration time. The differential lock is of manual origins, thus offering better grip in slippery conditions.
Suspension has also been lowered by 0.4 inches thus resulting in a lower center of gravity. Needless to mention, thinner rear and side windows, an inside door loop opener instead of classic handles, even less sound insulation, all result in less weight. An icing on the cake are the twenty inch wheels screaming Carrera T.
Engine is a flat six from an entry level Carrera, that is a 3.0 liter twin turbo rated at 370 bhp. As such it will reach a maximum speed of 182 mph and accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Needless to say there are options one can consider like a PDK transmission, rear wheel steering, and ceramic brakes. Seats however feature a sport textile instead of leather. Paying homage to a 1968 Carrera T, T stands for Touring, this could well be a far better buy than it was back in the day.
