In June the hotel’s Rose Bar has switched out its artwork from Damien Hirst to vibrant works by David LaChapelle (fearuring iconic photographs of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton – who was famously turned down at the door of Rose Bar when it first opened in 2006; Tupac, Lil’ Kim, etc.).

Many people don’t know this but GPH features an impressive collection of contemporary art throughout that belongs to the owner, Aby Rosen who is one of the biggest modern art collections in the world. Currently the collection in the hotel is worth $50 Million and features everything from Basquiat, Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, Botero and more.

Rose Bar on the Roof offers neighbors and guests alike the chance to take the panoramic views of Midtown, the Chrysler Building, and the Empire State Building. in full sight. Typically reserved for private events, the Rose Bar team will open the roof on certain dates this summer for a series of programming meant to introduce attendees to the stunning surroundings upstairs, replete with a walk through a series of Andy Warhol portraits, Damien Hirst paintings and a room crowned with over 4,400 lightbulbs
