Will Packer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall Host ‘Girls Trip’ Screening in Atlanta
A week before the anticipated box office release, Will Packer, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall hosted a special Atlanta screening of the movie Girl’s Trip. The movie, which will be out in theatres on July 21, 2017, stars Pinkett Smith and Hall along with Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish. The screening, which took place on July 11 at SCADShow in Midtown Atlanta was a success and the response to the movie was all laughter. Will Packer, the first Haute Living Atlanta digital cover, first told us about this movie when we interviewed him at the beginning of the year. Here’s what he told us:
“I have a new movie called “Girls Trip” that I am really excited about. “Girls Trip” is going to be if “Bridesmaids” and “Hangover” had a baby and the baby was black. First, you would be looking for the daddy because somebody’s got some explaining to do. Second, it would be this movie. The movie stars Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish, who is a new face. This is her Melissa McCarthy-esque breakout role. The movie is about four women who travel to New Orleans for the weekend. Let’s just say they behave badly and have an empowerment weekend and do whatever they want to do. They need this weekend desperately to get away from it all. I had a lot of fun on this film. We just wrapped up the filming and it will be out in theaters on July 21, 2017.”
Being that Packer calls Atlanta home, he was all smiles at the screening and looked his usual dapper self while posing for the camera. Also in attendance was Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Sheree Whitfield and Marlo Hampton along with Mayor Kasim Reed, Catherine Brewton, Egypt Sherrod and Toya Wright.
Girls Trip was directed by Malcolm D. Lee and produced by Will Packer on a $28 million budget. Lee is the cousin of director/filmmaker Spike Lee.
